1. Steam

For babies under 6 months, try steam the room. You can add a vaporizer to your baby’s room and this offer enough moisture to the nasal tract of babies and this reduces the breathing difficulty. You can also try sitting near a steam inhaler with your baby in a safe distance.

2. Frequent Breastfeeding

Breast milk act as the best medicine to almost all ailments of your little one. If your baby is below 6 months it is better to avoid using any over the counter drugs. Frequent breastfeeding helps to prevent the solidification of mucus inside baby’s nose and chest.

3. Raise the head of your baby while sleeping

You can try  raising baby’s head while sleeping and breastfeeding. This angle will angle helps to drain out the mucus from nose and chest. So that your baby can eat enough and sleep well later. This can be done by using pillows or slings. Just allow the baby to sleep sideways to ease breathing at night.

4. Bay leaf chest compress

Take 3-4 bay leaves and Add it to water and boil.  Get a clean cotton cloth and dip it in the water after removing the leaves. Wring the cloth and place it over chest. Please check whether the heat is bearable or not for baby before placing.

5. Tap the back

Keep your baby safely in your lap and gently tap the baby’s back. Use cupping movements while you do the tapping. This will help to loosen the phlegm.

6. Soups and extra fluids

For babies of 6 month and above, try Chicken soup (one year and above) or  mixed vegetable soups. Apart from breast milk and soup, well hydrate your baby with various fluids.

7. Tulsi juice with honey

Crush a few tulsi leaves to get the juice.  Add 1 tablespoon of honey and offer this (one year and above) at regular interval.

8. Ginger juice with honey

Grate a piece of ginger and add 1 tablespoon of honey to it. You can offer (one year and above)  this at regular interval.

9. Lemons with Honey

Take a cup of hot water and add a slice of lemon and some lemon zest. After 5 minutes, Strain and offer it to your kid (one year and above) with some honey to sweeten it.

10. Onion infused honey

Put a slice of onion in some honey and leave it overnight. Remove the onion and give a teaspoon of this honey to your child   (one year and above) twice a day.
