Fetal Psychology Importance
Fetal Psychology is a great aspect of psychology which deals with study of fetal Movement, Taste, Hearing, Vision, alertness, personality and even learning from the mothers Womb. The maternal womb is an optimal, stimulating, interactive environment for human development. Just before 8 weeks gestational age itself, the first sensitivity to touch manifests by fetus in a set of protective movements to avoid a mere hair stroke on the cheek.
Talk to Your Baby in Womb
According to Fetal Psychology, Prenatal period – which is the longest stage of prenatal, human development that lasts from 9 weeks after conception to birth. Usually say it is important to talk to the fetus to help foster attachment, and get the baby used to the sound of the parents voice. Science proves fetus is responsive to sound at approximately 6 months of development.
Peak Points of Development
A newly developing fetus can hiccup and react to loud noises by just 9 weeks. By the end of the second trimester it can hear well and respond. Rapid eye movement (REM) as in adults also occur in sleep of dreams. Fetus picks up the food tastes of a culture in the womb via mothers meals. It can easily differentiate voice of Mom and that of a stranger. A premature baby is also aware, feels, responds, and adapts to its environment.
How Baby in Womb Move, Taste, Hear, See and Learn
Movement and Touch
It is interesting to note that the baby even from mothers womb can Move, Taste, Hear, See and Learn. The basis of personality is also start to develop from uterus. Any human fetus in maternal uterus can moves 50 times or more each hour, flexing and extending its body, moving its head, face, and limbs and exploring its warm, wet compartment by touch.
Sleep and Alertness
At 32 weeks, fetus is found to be drowsy 90 to 95% of the day. Hours are spent in deep sleep, some in REM sleep. The eyes of fetus can move back and forth just as an adult’s eyes do and most of them say that it is dreaming. Closer to birth, the fetus sleeps 85 or 90% of the time as per Fetal Psychology books.
Around 13 to 15 weeks a fetus’ taste buds already look like a mature adult’s. The amniotic fluid that surround most of the time smell strongly of curry, cumin, garlic, onion indicative of this. A 33-week-old preemie will suck harder on a sweetened nipple indicative of this is true as proved by Fetal Psychology experimenters.
Hearing and Vision
About the fetal hearing in Fetal Psychology, 24 or 25 weeks responds to the sounds around it. Most of the pregnant mothers reports fetal jerk or sudden kick just after a door slams or a car backfires. The growing fetus not only hears and recognizes the sound, but is calmed by it. Vision is the last sense to develop in fetus. It can see can see light and shape.
Fetal Learning and Personality
The ability to feel, see, and hear comes the capacity to learn and remember for the baby in uterus. All these takes place as a rudimentary, automatic, even biochemical process. According to Fetal Psychology, There is strong effect of prenatal situations and individual temperament. The hormones a mother puts out in response to stress is important and affect the personality development within Womb.
